Exit the 210 fwy at Azusa Ave (Hwy 39). Go N on Azusa Ave past Sierra Madre Ave to the Forest Service Information booth. The trailhead is on the west side of the highway, it parallels the paved bikepath.

Ride south on the singletrack past the 210 fwy. Bear left off the bikepath into the open field on your left. Pick up the fun twisty singletrack and loop this area twice (called the Fun Zone). Watch out for the the jumps. This looks like desert in here. Now climb the rocky trail up small hill, go down the other side, head toward the lake, then turn right on the fireroad. Find the singletrack leading north from the fireroad (look for 3 rocks stacked side by side as markers), then explore this second desert-like area. Make your way to the dam face on the southeast side of the park. Ride on the dam face for about 1 1/2 miles in western direction, to the end of the paved section. Ride down to the fireroad (near the helo landing area), and ride north on the fireroad, alongside, and below the 605 fwy in this water spreading ground area. Then turn right (east) when you reach the chainlink fence. Go past the water dept maintenance building, and turn north. Go under the 210 fwy, and ride on the west bank of the San Gabriel River. When you pass under Foothill Blvd, look for a singletrack in the riverbed. It is flat and straight. Take it to the old railroad bridge, and go under the bridge. Get on the bridge at this point. Ride east across the bride to the east side of the riverbed. Go N on the singletrack, (you rode this S earlier) or if you are toasted, take the easy bikepath back. It's about 2 miles back to the USFS Info booth.
